Abraham

“Who against hope believed in hope that he might become the father of many nations” – Romans 4:18
This is one of my favorite Bible verses. Abraham is known as the father of faith and also considered the father of many nations. Nevertheless he was not born into that position. In fact his name had to be changed to fully reflect his coming glory.
He had tremendous faith. As the bible text above says, he believed in hope against hope. WOW! That takes a lot to be done. Despite having no hope, he still believed there was hope. When he was to sacrifice Isaac his son, there was no guarantee that he would ever father another child from his wife Sarah. Having Isaac had been a miracle.
Notwithstanding Abraham had faith that He who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we can wish or hope for, would take absolute control. God must have really loved Abraham for his hope and his faith. It is no surprise then that that God made him prosper and kept him safe from his enemies.
It is my hope that the Lord will help us to obey Him and to have faith in Him always.

P.S. Abraham is my nephew’s Christian name : D
